One day playing tops

8 Jul 2020 by Alan Fairbairn

Hi everyone,

The Committee has adopted the position that the 1st XI and 2nd XI teams will be adopting fully coloured clothing (Yellow top and black pants), whilst all other Senior teams at Mitcham will be playing in a Yellow top but will wear white pants in Season 2020/2021.

Players in the 1st and 2nd XI’s will be supplied with black pants, however players are free to purchase their own if they so wish.

All Senior tops will be accompanied with surnames, but no number. This is for 2 reasons:
1. There is no practical reason to carry a number in cricket; and
2. Takes away the risk of multiple players wearing the same number in a game (EG: Seniors & Juniors in the same team).

Further, in light of COVID events as we head further into unknown times, and as a result of grants received from Michael Sukkar and the Stronger communities program grant, and Dustin Halse and the Community Support Fund, which we thank them for, the Committee has unanimously agreed to purchase all 1 day shirts (FOC) for all Senior cricketers and girls at Mitcham Cricket Club this year, as well as heavily subsidising the Junior boys shirts down to U/12 level.

This is to ensure we keep costs to a minimum for our players this season.

This is a “once off” offer, and any players who join subsequent to this season will be required to purchase them.

Orders have been placed, so to ensure your shirt is ready for Round 1 (including getting your surname on the back of your shirt) we need your name and shirt size to us NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 7 AUGUST 2020.

As a guide to order what shirt size, please refer to your training tops as the top will be identical in size to these.

Please contact the club email address:
mitchamcc@hotmail.com.

I also ask that only those committed to playing this season to order a top. I would be personally disappointed to see someone order a top for the sake of it and then not follow through in playing.

Finally, as far as announcements go from today re: COVID, whilst it is terribly disappointing that we are in this situation again, and things like our Junior development training, which has been running for the past 2 weeks, is now deferred and pre-season will now be starting later than usual, I can assure you that myself and the Committee, have been busy these past few months and working closely with Canny and DT to ensure we are all ready for Round 1.

You would have seen the exciting news of the recruitment of Ben McNiece for this upcoming season, and I will have further announcements over the coming days and weeks what is happening in and around the club for the upcoming season.

Don’t forget to reply to the club email re: 1 day shirt size by 7 August.

Regards,

Alan Fairbairn
President
